Erasmus Policy Statement

IES La Albuera is a public high school engaged with the modernisation and internationalisation of our institution through the mobility of our students and staff and our participation in European and international cooperation projects.

We support an education policy of equal opportunities for all students and staff members. Everyone is equally treated and protected from all forms of offensive behaviour, and we guarantee a working and learning environment free from any kind of abuse or discrimination.

Taking part in institutional programmes which facilitate the cultural exchange is one of our priorities, in line with our commitment to strengthening our European identity through education and culture.

As a public school located on the outskirts of a small tourist town, Segovia, near the capital city and rich in natural and historical heritage, IES La Albuera reflects the society and the background where it belongs. It features a wide range of students, coming from both rural and urban areas, with a predominance of students from an average sociocultural background. They have a variety of interests and ambitions and our wide education supply (including Secondary Education, English and French bilingual programmes, Baccalaureate, Bachibac, Higher, Intermediate and Basic Vocational studies in the fields of Physical and Sport Activities, Vehicle Maintenance and Industrial Installation and Maintenance) contributes to improving our students´ choice for upgrading and helps us prevent early dropping out.

The opportunity of studying German in addition to Spanish, French and English as a part of our secondary students´ syllabus singles us out for our involvement in teaching European languages and shows our commitment to the education of European citizens.

We are convinced that learning mobility helps individuals increase their professional, social and intercultural skills and employability. Consequently, we strongly encourage and support student and staff mobility, especially for individuals with fewer opportunities, on the basis that knowledge and learning cannot be promoted ignoring cultural differences or doing without neighbouring countries´ achievements.

Our higher VET students of Physical and Sport Activities, Vehicle Maintenance and Industrial Installation and Maintenance are increasingly aware that their learning of foreign languages is essential and their training in a European context means high added value for their curricula. As a result, they frequently choose to do their traineeship or work-based learning module in Europe nowadays.

Likewise, teachers´ growing interest in international cooperation projects and their reliance on the advantages of learning new methodologies and sharing good practices by teaching, job shadowing and training abroad foster our institution internationalization strategies.

Our regular participation in student exchanges, either officially called by regional and national educational bodies or organized by our high school, as well as our participation in activities under Erasmus Key Action 1 and Key Action 2, prove that we adhere to the Erasmus principles and are willing to promote them among outgoing and incoming students and staff before, after and during mobility.
